Sedation Endodontists

Endodontics is among the most feared procedures in dentistry. Although we as providers of dentistry do our best to be considerate of our patients' anxieties over our care, we often don't realize just how agonizing it can be.

Many endodontists underutilize sedation. Even fewer are trained to provide the sedation care themselves. This may be a result of lack of training in graduate-level training programs. It may be a result of lack of access to techniques specifically tailored to endodontic patients.

Here is a link to an article which advocates the inclusion of sedation training for graduate-endodontic specialty programs. Take a look and see what you think.

Is sedation Safe?

It is when it is "titrated slowly in the recommended doses by appropriately trained dentists." http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11433853
